Specialist Workshops

Ten skills-based workshops will run simultaneously, giving practical advice to help you manage your career. All the workshops will run twice - once before and once after the break, enabling you to attend at least two sessions. Please select your chosen workshops in order of preference.

Why not bring two colleagues - you can share information and benefit from a 10% discount.

Each workshop is restricted in number to a maximum of 40 people - first-come, first-served.

Workshop A - Winning Ways at Discrimination

Record numbers of female employees are complaining about sexual discrimination in the workplace. Compensation payouts are bigger than ever. How do you go about it? What does it entail? Will it ruin you for life? What are the steps and where are the pitfalls? This session takes the lid off this sensitive issue.

Workshop B - Parents in Practice

It is said that the 'glass ceiling' will not be broken unless men take a full part in family responsibilities. The EOC reports increasing evidence that men want to take leave or reduce their hours following the birth of their children. The advent of parental leave should give fathers that opportunity. This workshop aims to address:
  • Changing legislations - parental and dependant leave. How will firms adapt?
  • Do men want home/life balance? Why don't more of them say so publicly?
  • Does balancing work and home inevitably mean inadequate commitment to the firm?
  • Changing cultures and norms in firms:
    - billable hours mean long hours?
    - client demands are inalienable?
    - family responsibilities are career limiting?
