La Scala theatre will close at the end of December for refurbishment. The company will perform in a brand new venue, the Teatro degli Arcimboldi for the remainder of the season.

La Scala closes on a high note: the climax of a full calendar year devoted to a celebration of the work of Giuseppe Verdi. The last production at the old theatre before closure will be Otello, opening on 7 December.

Placido Domingo will sing on this and some other dates in the run.
